Arche Fountain in Alex Lopez Park

SW corner of Lincoln Highway and Dixie Highways Chicago Heights , IL 60411
Dedicated to the memory of Abraham Lincoln in 1916, the Arché Fountain was the first public drinking fountain erected on the Lincoln Highway. The sculpture was commissioned by the Arché Club — an arts group comprised of Chicago women — who hired artist George E. Ganiere to complete the work. More on the Arché Club can be found in the Voices from the “Father Road” section. The fountain marks the location of the Lincoln and Dixie highways crossing. At this historic location, the fountain offered weary travelers an opportunity to rest, have a drink of water, and reflect on the memory of President Abraham Lincoln.
