Aurora U.S. Post Office

18 W. Benton Street Aurora, IL 60506
The former Aurora U.S. Post Office was constructed in 1930 under the supervision of architect James Wetmore. It features monumental arcaded windows and stylized terra cotta ornament indicative of an overall Art Deco style, with traditional European revival style details, such as gargoyle water spouts. The post office was relocated in 1988 to a new location on North Broadway. The building is currently vacant, but over time has been occupied by various businesses, most recently the SciTech Hands On Museum.
