The four bridges over the Fox River at Benton Street and Downers Place were constructed in 1924. The bridges are fixed concrete closed spandrel arch bridges. Each bridge features a pedestrian sidewalk that cantilevers over the Fox River and is enclosed with classical balustrades. In 2010, the original bridge over the east channel on Downers Place was reconstructed due to severe deterioration. The bridges connect the east and west sides of Stolp Island to the Aurora mainland. Today, the Benton Street Bridge is utilized by the Lincoln Highway, but the original route of the Lincoln Highway crossed the island at Downers Place. All of the bridges on the island contribute to the Stolp Island National Register Historic District.
