Dog N' Suds

162 W. Sauk Trail South Chicago Heights, IL 60411
Constructed in c. 1962 as a franchise of the Illinois-based Dog N' Suds restaurant, first founded in 1953 in Champaign. The drive-in style restaurant was renowned for serving the "World's Creamiest Root Beer" and the "World Famous Coney Dog," alongside staples like hamburgers and fries. At the company’s peak in 1968, there were approximately 650 restaurants. In 1974, the company was sold to Frostie Enterprises, and franchises were gradually sold off and closed, including this former Dog N’ Suds in South Chicago Heights, which has served as Dean Gyros since 1988.
