Fogelman Block

1 block north of railroad Creston , IL 60113
The Fogelman Block was constructed in 1895 for H.A. Fogelman and his wife. The building was featured in the Automobile Blue Books and the official Road Guides of the Lincoln Highway in the 1910s and 1920s as the home of Luxton's Restaurant and Hotel. The business was founded circa 1910 by English immigrant Daniel Luxton. He was born in a small parish in Southwest England, known as Little Silver, in 1871, and immigrated to the United States in 1888.  Luxton originally established the business to serve visitors arriving via the Chicago & North Western Railway, which operated a depot in Creston, and then welcomed travelers along the Lincoln Highway.
