Geneva Tire and Auto Store

129 W. State Street Geneva , IL 60134
Built around 1890, the Geneva Tire and Auto Store building has hosted a variety of businesses throughout its history. Originally home to a tin shop on the first floor with a barber shop and tavern upstairs, it later housed a grocer, meat vendor, and club rooms. By the early 20th century, Economy Home & Auto Supply occupied the space, selling B.F. Goodrich tires—famous for their role in milestones like the first transcontinental auto journey and Charles Lindbergh’s trans-Atlantic flight. In the late 1940s, Geneva Tire & Auto Store opened, adding a rear garage to service vehicles. Today, the shop remains a third-generation, family-owned business still operating in its historic location.
