These two log cabins are the last of five located along Rock Creek, which once composed Kier's Log Tavern. The establishment opened on May 16, 1931, as a tourist court to provide lodging to motorists on the Lincoln Highway. The cabins were historically set back from the highway, closer to Rock Creek, along the existing vehicular "court" or drive. However, due to flooding, they were relocated closer to the road. The cabins were built in the "settler" style, with stripped, split logs and clay chinking (used between the logs for insulation). The adjacent residence also historically served as a front office and tavern for the tourist court.
