Lincoln Highway Gazebo - Frankfort

11008 West Lincoln Highway Frankfort, IL 60423
In Frankfort, the Lincoln Highway gazebo features interpretive panels that illustrate the history of the Village of Frankfort, the impetus behind the highway, and the fascinating story of Emily Post, author of Etiquette, and her travels on the transcontinental route in 1915. The gazebo was constructed in 2009 as part of the Interpretive Gazebo Project, funded through a National Scenic Byway Grant from the Federal Highway Administration, with support from the Village of Frankfort. The Lincoln Highway Gazebos mark the Illinois section of the highway, which is the only portion of the Lincoln Highway to be designated a National Scenic Byway in its entirety.
