The Plainfield Lincoln Highway gazebo features an interpretive panel that illustrates the history of the community and the role played by the Lincoln Highway in its growth during the early 1900s. The gazebo was constructed in 2009 as part of the Interpretive Gazebo Project, funded through a National Scenic Byway Grant from the Federal Highway Administration, with support from the Village of Plainfield. The Lincoln Highway Gazebos mark the Illinois section of the highway, which is the only portion of the Lincoln Highway to be designated a National Scenic Byway in its entirety.
