The Malta Lincoln Highway Mural depicts the interesting history of the Malta Seedling Mile, which placed the small community of Malta on the map for its role in the early construction of the Lincoln Highway. The mural was completed circa 2011 as part of a National Scenic Byway Grant from the Federal Highway Administration with support from the Village of Malta. The Lincoln Highway Murals mark the Illinois section of the highway, which is the only portion of the Lincoln Highway to be designated as a National Scenic Byway in its entirety. The mural was created by Shaw Craft Sign Co., founded by artist Jay Allen.
