Lincoln Highway Mural - Matteson

3627 W. 216th Street Matteson, IL 60443
Matteson’s Lincoln Highway mural is located at Mahler's Service Station, illustrating the history of the station and the role of transportation in Matteson, Illinois. The Mahler Service Station was selected for the mural, as the legacy business has been a staple in Matteson’s historic commercial corridor since its founding in 1914. The mural was created in 2012 as part of a National Scenic Byway Grant from the Federal Highway Administration with support from the Village of Matteson. This mural initiative marks the Illinois section of the highway, the only portion of the Lincoln Highway to be designated a National Scenic Byway in its entirety. The mural was created by Shaw Craft Sign Co., founded by artist Jay Allen.
