Oswego's Lincoln Highway mural depicts the history of the Boy Scouts' role in improving the transcontinental route. In 1928, scouts from across the country completed the task of placing 3,000 concrete markers that directed drivers along the length of the Lincoln Highway. The mural was completed in 2011 as part of a National Scenic Byway Grant from the Federal Highway Administration with support from the Village of Oswego. The Lincoln Highway Murals mark the Illinois section of the highway, which is the only portion of the Lincoln Highway designated as a National Scenic Byway in its entirety. The mural was created by Shaw Craft Sign Co., founded by artist Jay Allen.
