The Newman Brothers Garage was constructed circa 1919 as one of six auto-centric businesses on this block of Dixon. The building had a large storage area that could hold 100 automobiles, and it also featured a filling station located at the northwest corner, as pictured above. In 1948, the building was remodeled and "modernized" to create a contemporary aesthetic and to add an auto showroom to the business's offerings. At that time, it was renamed Newman Motor Sales Co. It sold Dodge and Plymouth cars, as well as Mobil brand gas. The business remains operational under the Newman Brothers name. They offer heated storage services.
