Sebby's "66" is a former Phillips 66 Gas Station constructed in c. 1958-1959. The design of the building reflects a style developed during Phillips 66's successful rebranding campaign in 1955. This campaign developed several new styles of gas station architecture, collectively known as the Phillips 66 "New Look." The advertising firm, Lippencott & Margulies, sought to modernize the company's image with new designs to attract customers in a competitive market. This example is known as a "Rock-Frame," featuring canted display windows, and the now non-existent red and white color scheme, along with "Phillips 66" letter signs set into the roof edge. Before the construction of this station, Sebby's 66 was located in the existing building on the southeast corner of Ottawa Street and the IL Route 59/Lincoln Highway in Plainfield.
