Located at the southwest corner of Joliet's Six Corners intersection, this sculpture and the adjacent stone monument mark the location of the toll gate for the Joliet-Plainfield Plank Road. This sculpture features a bison atop a mosaic-clad pedestal. It was sculpted and cold cast in bronzed resin by members of the non-profit group Friends of Community Public Art. Between 1998 and 2009, the city of Joliet commissioned the group to create 40 outdoor sculptures. The works were co-created by Kathleen Scarboro, Kathleen Farrell, Dante DeBartolo, Sharka Glet, Ron Swanson, Andrea Rountree, and Saul Chavira. The adjacent stone monument was dedicated in 1936 by the Will County Centennial Committee to commemorate the Joliet-Plainfield Plan Road.
